Lisa Mitzen Animal Care Center / Mohawk Hudson Humane Society

Here’s the Story

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is the oldest and largest animal protection organization in New York’s Capital Region, and provides services for animals and their parents, as well as sheltering and rehoming stray, abused and unwanted animals. Unfortunately, animal needs and safety precautions increased during the COVID pandemic, and many fundraisers were forced online.

Giving Back

BFG co-Founder, Lisa Mitzen, with a farm of her own, is a longtime advocate for animal welfare. She became involved with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in an effort to expand the Humane Society’s work with a new facility that will continue leading the way in animal advocacy. BFG donated $1 million dollars to advance this state-of-the-art center.

Moving Forward

Because of Lisa and BFG’s dedication to the work, the Lisa Mitzen Animal Care Center is a location ready to advocate more effectively and efficiently for humane treatment of animals in the Capital Region. But this is only the beginning of a collaboration. Business for Good is in discussion with the Humane Society about new steps to take together, with an eye toward building better communities for both human and animal friends.
